A Google search has revealed that 'we are not alone'. The Pure Luck restaurant in Los Angeles serves what they call ...Potato Pals!!!
These they describe as 'Small potato dumplings (gnocchi), lightly fried in peanut oil.'
Despite our reservations about this sort of thing, the people at Pure Luck seem to be good folk and describe themselves as vegan...mmm not so sure of the ethics here. I have of course contacted the restaurant directly and will let you know of their response), we are happy to note that this is a popular dish getting rave reviews.
